Software for the shop counter

Tradebook is built by GrowthScope, a software company in Sri Lanka.

Most invoicing software assumes a fast connection, a monthly subscription, and a willingness to keep your sales records on someone else's servers. For a hardware store, a pharmacy, or a wholesale distributor, none of those assumptions hold. The connection drops, the subscription outgrows the business, and the books — the most private thing a business owns — end up in the cloud.

Tradebook starts from the opposite assumptions. It is a desktop application: your products, customers, and invoices live in a database file on your own computer. It works the same whether the internet is up or not. It is free, and it will keep working even if we disappear tomorrow, because nothing about it depends on our servers.

The trade-off is honest: Tradebook does not sync between devices or offer a mobile app. It is built for the computer at the counter — the one that prints the invoice and hands it to the customer.
